Therapy For Autistic Adults And Couples

With Elliot Rayman, Ph.D.,
AANE-Certified Neurodiverse Couples Therapist

As a Ph.D. psychologist and AANE-certified neurodiverse couples therapist, I have worked with autistic people across the lifespan, including many adults exploring a late autism diagnosis.

Have you spent years feeling misunderstood, even in therapy?
Do relationships feel harder than they seem to feel for other people?
Did you receive a formal diagnosis or starting to wonder if autism has shaped your life?

You might have learned to mask, push through sensory stress, or study social rules just to get by. Others come to me burned out from trying to meet expectations that were never built for you.

Therapy with me is a place without pressure. You do not need to perform, explain perfectly, or meet an expectation.

Clients Come To Me For:

  • Late autism diagnosis

  • Constant masking

  • Burnout cycles

  • Sensory stress

  • Relationship strain

  • Family conflict

  • Feeling different

  • Therapy felt wrong

You may want to understand your diagnosis, improve your relationships, and find the strengths in your autism
without having to fight yourself.

How My Autism Therapy Works

Most psychological difficulties are not random. They are patterned. The ways you relate, avoid emotions, anticipate rejection, manage closeness, or repeat conflict often developed for good reasons. In therapy, we get curious about those patterns, understand where they have helped and held you back, so they become easier to understand and more flexible. We do all of this while respecting and better understanding your neurotype.

We will also integrate neurodivergent affirming concrete tools, skills, and suggestions. We may identify sensory supports, practice new communication tools, build scripts for hard conversations, or look at how masking affects your energy. Some sessions are exploratory. Others are more active and focused.

The pace is collaborative, flexible, and based on what feels possible.

Modalities We Use

I draw from multiple approaches, which are all adapted to a strengths-based neurodivergent affirming framework.

Autism Therapy With Results

Clients often report feeling more control over how they move through the world.

Including:

  • Less masking

  • More self-understanding

  • Clearer sensory needs

  • Easier relationships

  • Less shame

  • Calmer choices

  • More autonomy

My therapy can help you see yourself in a new way, with more power over your life story and more room to build the life you want.

About Elliot Rayman, Ph.D.

Hi, I’m Elliot Rayman, Ph.D.

My neurodivergent approach to therapy is designed for autistic adults and neurodiverse couples, adapted to your needs, not assumptions. I bring a neurodivergent-affirming, collaborative, and integrative approach to every session.

I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and couples in both therapy and psychological assessment. I have also led therapy groups for autistic adults and worked in neurodivergent-focused settings, including Spectrum Services and Inclusive Minds Foundation. I know how meaningful it can be to finally have language for your experience, especially after years of feeling overlooked or misunderstood.

In sessions, we look at what is happening together. We reflect on how the past shows up today, what your patterns are trying to do for you, and what tools can help in your daily life. If you’re ready to take the first step, I’d be honored to connect.
