Dr. Elliot Rayman
Psychotherapist
I am a post-doctoral Clinical Psychologist working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples in both therapy and psychological assessment. I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The City College of New York, where I trained as a therapist at The Psychological Center. I worked for three years as a counselor at the Borough of Manhattan Community College Counseling Center and completed a clinical externship at the IPTAR Clinical Center. I completed my predoctoral internship at Maimonides Medical Center, where I provided care across outpatient, inpatient, and psychiatric emergency settings, including work in the LGBTQ+ clinic. I have also held clinical positions in private practice settings throughout New York City for several years. I am an AANE-certified neurodiverse couples therapist and provide comprehensive neuropsychological and neurodiversity-affirming diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults.
My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and psychodynamically informed. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood and can explore emotional, relational, and developmental challenges. I tailor treatment to each person’s unique background and needs, supporting insight, emotional growth, and more fulfilling relationships. With children and adolescents, I work to establish trust and emotional safety while collaborating closely with caregivers throughout treatment.
A significant focus of my work is with neurodivergent individuals, couples, and families, including Autism, ADHD, and OCD across the lifespan. I take a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach, with attention to how neurodevelopment, identity, and experiences of being misunderstood shape emotional functioning and relationships. In couples work, I help partners better understand differences in communication style, emotional expression, and sensory processing to support greater connection and understanding.
In addition to psychotherapy, I provide comprehensive neuropsychological and diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults, addressing concerns related to attention, learning, executive functioning, mood, and social development, with the goal of providing both diagnostic clarity and practical recommendations. I welcome individuals and families of all identities and backgrounds and provide an affirming space for LGBTQIA+ clients and neurodiverse individuals and relationships.
